Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers to all your movement rehabilitation queries here. If you have a question that has not yet been answered below, we encourage you to give us a call. Our team of professionals will be more than happy to assist you with any queries or concerns you might have.

  • Is a Doctor’s Referral Required?

Physiotherapists are primary health care professionals who can diagnose, treat, and prevent musculoskeletal conditions. As such, a physician's referral is not typically required for most insurance plans to access our treatments. However, some health insurance providers may require a doctor's referral for services such as massage, acupuncture, osteopathy, chiropractic care, and physiotherapy in order to process reimbursements.

Take note that our clinic does not accept OHIP. If you’re not sure whether your insurance provider will cover our services, the best thing to do is call them up and confirm with them first before booking an appointment with us.

  • Are the Treatments Painful?

Physiotherapy and chiropractic treatments are custom-tailored to suit the individual's health concerns, but no treatment should feel painful. Many of the hands-on treatments activate deep tissue, a process that may cause temporary discomfort and soreness, but not pain. Your therapist will work to gauge your comfort and pain threshold levels to ensure that your in-clinic appointments are as pleasant as possible for you.

We advise that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointments. Your practitioner may need to access the affected joint or muscles for hands-on therapies, so we recommend dressing as if you were going to the gym.

  • Will I Need Adjustments Forever?

Our main priority is to get to the root cause of your pain and correct any misalignment of the bones, joints, and soft tissue to improve your condition and prevent future injuries. Thus, our treatment plans consist of several sessions. Because we tailor treatments to suit the individual, the actual number of sessions you’ll need will vary depending on your situation. In any case, you can discuss the matter with your practitioner. They will be more than happy to come up with an agreeable timeline and schedule for your succeeding sessions, once they determine that you might need further adjustments.
